DIY Rose Water and Rose Quartz Mist

Some facts and info on rose water and its many uses, and a super quick and easy tutorial on making a gemstone infused rose water spritz.

You may or may not know this, but placing gemstones/crystals in water changes the water. It's ok if you don't believe me - give it a try before you make an opinion!

I give blind taste tests to people all the time and, without knowing what they are trying, or why, everyone always answers the same way. No one ever has any idea if the water is supposed to be different, or what's in it, or if there is any taste they are meant to pick up on.

I will just serve two glasses of water and ask people to try them and let me know if there is any difference between the two. Every single time, everyone answers the same: The water that's been served after sitting in my crystal bottle, tastes sweeter and lighter. I get the same exact responses from everyone, every time.

I won't get into the specifics in this post about how crystals change water, but basically, everything is molecules vibrating, everything vibrates at a certain frequency. Everything is energy. Check out "the hidden messages in water" by Dr. Emoto.

Moving on! So after the very brief intro above (or you may already know this) you can see (or start to see, if you haven't looked into this) how vibration affects everything around us, and crystals have the same effect.

So one of my favourite things to do is to place small rose quartz crystals inside of a spritz bottle, and create my own gemstone infused rose water. Here's how, and why; it's very easy.

Is there a point? What are some of the benefits?

Well, is there a point to anything? if something is positive and makes you feel good, that's a good enough reason to do it. Also, remember how important every aspect of our surroundings is - the more we surround ourselves with things that makes us happy, and set loving intentions, the more we increase this in our lives.

So, this is just one small part of that. Further, routines are mindfulness exercises. Everything is zen, when you live your life focused on the present and intentionally. Taking the time to do things like this are all moments of mindfulness. Pay close attention to each movement, set intentions, and be mindful; everything is a practice in zen and mindfulness.

I'll also quickly add that rose water or a rose water spray is not a "girly" thing to do. My partner uses rose water on his face every single day - he finds it super refreshing, and it instantly soothes his itchy eyes when they get itchy. In fact, it works way better than anything else he's ever tried for itchy eyes. I've recommend it to family members who get allergies or rashes and rose water clears it up super quickly.

I also use rose water, aside from as a toner, or cleanser, if I ever get itchy too. For example you can rub some over insect bites, mosquito bites - anything that ever gets itchy - a rash, an allergic reaction on your face etc. It's like aloe vera, but I would say more soothing. It's very soothing and usually stops irritation very quickly. Rose water has been used for centuries - you can place it in food, you can drink it (I do both of these) - and it's really great for your body inside and out. It's most definitely not a girly thing and in fact, seeing it that way is just a sexist stereotype (which is why gender needs to be abolished, not encouraged as an identity, cue eye roll)

DIY in Three Simple Steps

All you'll need for this is:

1. A glass spritz bottle (reuse one or purchase one. If it's glass you can use it over and over again)

2. Rose water (organic, pure, 100% rosa damascena)

3. Rose quartz crystals/chips (buy separately, reuse an old bracelet, or purchase a rose quartz chip bracelet, widely available)

If you already use crystals you may already have a rose quartz bracelet lying around. If you don't, these chip bracelets (pictured below) are sold in so many places and they are usually pretty cheap.

Step 1

Cut the bracelet up, freeing the chips. Rinse and soak them in a bowl, to get rid of any extra little bits of bracelet string. Step 2 - place them into the spray bottle.

Step 3.

Pour rose water into the glass spray bottle :)

It's just a fun way to incorporate crystals. These products usually sell for a lot if you purchase them online - but it is so easy to make your own gemstone infused beauty products. You can take this all a step further by using this infused water, with emulsifying wax, and create your own body butters.

I will soon make a DIY post about that. By doing that, you'll have gemstone infused body butters, lip balms, face creams and so on.

I hope this was an enjoyable little DIY. I recommend this and I do this, because it puts you into a peaceful and calming state of mind - taking the time to do things as a routine - in a zen way - all contributes to active focused meditation. Everything is zen.

A step by step gemstone infusing ritual is a moment of mindfulness. If you want it to be :)
