My Himalayan Salt Lamp (Benefits and Cool Photos!)

I love all things crystals, and while the Himalayan salt lamp isn't a crystal, I'm still obsessed. If you look up "benefits" of Himalayan salt lamps on a search engine like google you will get mixed responses, some articles that say they do work, and others that say they may work only a little bit or not at all. I will explain shortly.

I personally find them extremely calming and I do feel like they help to charge the air, and the feeling is totally tangible. First, everything is molecules vibrating at a certain speed. That's what we all are. We are just energy vibrating. So putting a certain positive vibration into your home, such as with crystals, furniture placement according to Feng shui, large large blocks of Himalayan salt and other positive crystals, and other things (colors etc) -- all of these things together have a huge impact on your home, perception, reality, and mental and emotional health.

Would you rather live somewhere full of black furniture, that is bulky and takes up tons of space, or would you rather the furniture was light coloured, light and moveable, open, airy, and your space was clear?

It's that simple. People set up their homes in ways that make them feel good, but many will probably laugh at things like Feng Shui, even though its the same exact principle - setting up your home in a way that it will feel good!

Anyway, the benefits of Himalayan salt lamps apparently come from the salt giving off negative ions. Well, the reality is that there is 100 years of research into negative ions and conclusively (sometimes more and sometimes less, but always yes!) the data shows that negative ions affect us in a very positive way.

The best way to be exposed to negative ions is to go to the beach, because crashing water (such as waterfalls, the ocean, water fountains etc) creates a huge discharge of negative ions - same as when it rains. Rain and thunder storms have the same positive effect on our bodies and minds.

Apparently water crashing on itself is one of the best ways to get this benefit. Negative ions have important benefits for our physical and our emotional health.

Studies show they improve depression, thinking ability, and more, as well as strongly helping the immune system. Remember when you go to the beach and feel like it "recharges you", or "calms you", or "washes away" things? That's because that is a real, scientific thing that actually happens just by being around crashing water. Really makes you think about why they "closed the beaches".....

So a Himalayan salt lamp in your home, at the very least might help with negative ion release, and at the very best, will definitely provide you with a beautiful, calming thing to look at. It's natural, and it comes from the Earth - that ticks my only two boxes. It's super meditative and has definitely helped bring an extra, and strong, feeling of peace and calmness. We have four more in the bedroom (two on each bedside table), and have Himalayan tea light holders across the front room too.
